Clothes shopping, and a meme
Okay, I'll start with the meme. (Snagged from [info]modernelegance.)

Fill in the blank (and I shall answer):

Heather, what is your favorite _________________ ?

I'm curious to see what you guys come up with, but also, I'm bored... ;)

So, um, yesterday I did some shopping — or at least I tried to. I need to do a bit of clothes shopping before I leave because I need some warmer clothes — especially pants. I could not find a single pair of pants that fit me. Nada. Not in womens' size 0s, not in girls sizes 14 or 16. Oi. Even Old Navy, which I have bought all my most recent pairs of pants, has let me down. I think they're making their sizes bigger and bigger — with the few 0s I found, they were too big and way too long. :( This is ridiculous! I have no nice jeans — mine all have holes in them. :(

Does anyone know of a store that has really good petite sizes? Anyone?

This is why I never shop for pants — I hate trying clothes on, and pants are the kind of item that need to fit well. Shirts are easy — a small or extra small usually fits. Pants are just exasperating.

I also need boots, but I can't find any that I like. And have you guys ever seen the knitted boots/slippers? They look really cute and warm, and I thought they'd be perfect for walking around inside the "castle." I just need to find some...

All this shopping is using up my week's pay...

The one thing that brightened up my shopping trip? "I Feel it All" by Feist starting playing in Old Navy — it was great. :D

ok that one's lame... what's your favorite song to get stuck in your head!

try a bigger department store for petite sizes... i am not sure what you have where you live, but in this area we have kohl's (the best!), jcpenney's, macy's, etc. any of those larger department stores will have an entire petite section.

Agh. I wish I could recommend somewhere...I found the pants really weird when I was in Canada - much higher-waisted than I'm used to. There was one place I found a good pair, at somewhere called Smart Set I think. Although you want to make sure you buy a size smaller of course.

The low-rise waist is pretty popular right now, so they're not that high... It's not really the waist that's the problem — they're too long/big in the legs, or the fit really tight and uncomfortably at the hip or just a bit lower. It's weird.

Funny that you should mention Smart Set — I just got a couple things from there even though I don't usually look there. Unfortunately the pants didn't fit. :(

Here in Austria it's easy to find really petite sizes. My problem is that I am tall but also quite slim so most pants are too short - or long enough but too large around waist and hip :/

I don't think I can be of much help with the pants issue. Have you tried Macy's or some other department store like that? They usually have a good range of sizes. I do think I remember seeing some of those knit boots like you mentioned in a delia's catalog though.

As I am tall and chubby enough to have put myself on a diet, I'm afraid I can't help you with the petite sizes. One of my friends likes New York and Company, but I'm not sure where she likes to get jeans.:0

LOL I have to say I kinda wish I had this problem with pants. Usually they're too short or fit me funny because I'm tall and a size 12 :S I just have to remember what Meg Cabot said on the title of one of her latest books!

Not sure if you've read those books by Meg Cabot, but i definitely recommend them; super funny! (& really good too if you like a mystery :D) (I think there's 2 in the series and a 3rd book coming out for the "Size 12 is not fat" series)

what's your favourite obsession at the moment?
(as all good people need a couple obsessions at once right? ;D)

oh and i totally understand about buying new jeans! such a pain. I killed my last good pair and i can't find any that fit me either ;P always too long or too big (and my belt doesn't help either as the holes are right at the stupid spots where say hole #2 is a little loose but you can't tighten it to hole #3 cuz that's too tight @_@ LOL)

Ohhh I missed this all. So much for friends and going out to 18th birthday parties ;)

Ah, the horrors of finding trousers to fit and then ones that flatter too. I have a naverage size waist/hips but my bum just goes out at the back. If you follow tennis at all- think of Rafael Nadal's! Jeans are the worst.
