A new "Cranford" special is in the works!
From the BBC Press Office:

Dame Judi Dench, Imelda Staunton, Francesca Annis, Julia McKenzie and Jim Carter return in the popular award-winning BBC One drama about the lives of the people of Cranford, in a two-part special for Christmas 2009, it was announced today.... The Christmas special picks up the story in September 1844, a year after the town celebrates the wedding of Sophy (Kimberley Nixon) and Dr Harrison (Simon Woods).

Who else is excited?! :D

:D I was surprised — I never thought they'd make more of this, of all things, heehee.

*raises hand* I sure am! While I wasn't too crazy about Cranford, I'm very interested to see what's going on in the town a year later. It's like getting a peak into post-Happily Ever After. :P

I wonder if they'll use more events from the book[s]? They did have a lot in there already. I can't even think of specifics at the moment. It will be fun, especially to see Dr and Mrs Harrison. ;) I hope Simon Woods is in it again!

That would be so good! It's kind of straying off the books, though, since those two characters are from different stories and technically don't meet. But I say they could do it in the miniseries. (Especially with the backstory they made up regarding Mary's stepmother!)

LOL I think it was just me, but I didn't dig Cranford at all for some reason. I guess it was too slow for me.

I know what you mean — I enjoyed it for it's quirkiness (is that a word?) but it wasn't the most enthralling romance or plot like other miniseries. ;)
