:D I'm back, or for a couple of days, anyway. I've been having such an amazing time at camp, but I've been missing you guys too! (I love how we're all friends from around the world even though we've never met.) I thought I'd give a small update and say a big "hello"!
I can't believe I've already been at camp for a month, especially considering I've never been away from home for more than a week. It's nice coming home for this long weekend and spending a couple days relaxing before the last two weeks of camp; however, I know I'm going to miss it all when this summer's over. :( I've made a bunch of new friends. And... yeah :P (There's a lot of "drama" and gossip that's kind of disappointing, though — I find myself wondering "Aren't we past this? Aren't we above this?" Apparantly lots of people like to "hook up" a.k.a. make out. And then everyone gossips abou it. Personally, I find that wrong, and it's frustrating when this happens with "close" friends who are Christians... But I don't want to come across as judgemental, either...)
Other than that, things are great. :) Well, there's been a lot of rain this year and a couple of big storms. A big power outage left us without electricity for a day and a half, which was fun (not!). It came on this morning, which everyone was excited about, as you can imagine! They had generators for the bathrooms and the kitchen, but everything was a big hassle. Even just not having any fans... bleh.
Among many of the people up as staff, there's a boy a couple of years younger than me who is from England. He's really cool, and it's funny when he says things differently — i.e. torch, biscuits, trousers, jumper, etc... There was even a paragraph in the camp newsletter entitled "Don't make fun of Thomas (just because he speaks funny."
Funniest story: at the beginning of the summer when we were all moving our stuff to our different cabins, one cabin leader (CL) was carrying his plastic set of drawers and accidently dropped them.
Phil tells Thomas, "I just dropped my drawers!" to which Thomas replies, "What?!"
Again, Phil says, "I dropped my drawers."
"You what?"
Finally, another CL (CLA, actually — cabin leader assistant) clears up the confusions, explaining, "No, not his underwear — he means his plastic set of drawers with his clothes in it!" ROFL
I love his English accent, too — he kind of sounds like Will Mosely in "Narnia".
I'm helping out with worship, playing the piano and singing, which is really fun, especially when I can actually hear myself over the speakers.
Our first speaker we had reminded me of Mr. Bingley from the 2005 P&P — gah, I kept thinking Mr. Bingley every time I saw him, lol. I'll have to post a picture. He looked exactly like him! (Minus the big hair.) Speaking of P&P,we all watched it on one of our days pff — it was so much fun, and I loved watching it with other people who like it, too. Usually I can never get people to watch it with me.
And I have "Les Miz" buddies! Phil loves "Les Miz" and so does Miriam. They even sang parts of "At the End of the Day" and "A Little Fall of Rain" as part of a skit (which opened with "Colours of the Wind" from Pochahontas and "One Short Day in the Emerald City" from Wicked.)
I've also had a couple of problem campers, one of which included a girl who seemed to be ADHD and autistic. She was a real handful! There was also another girl who amde me her favourite near the end of the week, and she became a Christian! I prayed with ehr, and it was really cool, even though I was scared, too. I've never done that before.
I hope everyone's having a great summer! I'll try to visit your journals before I leave again. :D
