The new Disney "The Princess & the Frog" official trailer!

I realize I love Disney movies way too much, and I might be too attached to all the princess movies, but I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS! And it looks really good! Both traditional and new, and I'm so happy Disney is returning to classic 2D animation! Now I just hope this does really well so they don't abandon 2D altogether.

The frog reminds me of the frog from The Princess Swan — I think it's both the style and the accent. In fact it almost feels like a Don Bluth film than Disney, but still, so good!

Fiction Family - When She's Near from ATO Records on Vimeo.

Their debut CD comes out January 20th... And I sound like a commercial, but you guys should get it!! Jon Foreman and Sean Watkins, Switchfoot and Nickel Creek = :D

Hey, maybe this will count as my first "8 days of things that make me happy" entry. Everyone on my friends-list has been sharing and I want to as well. Or maybe the first thing is that I finished one exam today (Judaism) so there's only one more to go! No, I'll save that for tomorrow when I'm DONE... or Wednesday since the exam is late tomorrow night.

I just want it to be Christmas break already. My brain is fried. :P

Airs tomorrow! Sunday, October 26 at 8:00 pm on BBC One.

Can't wait! Charles Dickens, BBC drama, 14 parts — and Matthew Macfadyen! :D Apparently it's a 14-part series adapted by Andrew Davies. And their are soooooo many big names in the cast: Andy Serkis, Eve Myles, Freema Agyeman, Alun Armstrong, Pam Ferris (Our Mutual Friend, Jane Eyre)... I'm sure I'll recognize more faces than I know names.

Just a little collection for fun... I always like their trailers.

Tess of the D'Urbervilles )

Sense & Sensibility )

Jane Eyre )

And here are some DVD trailers, the first I'd never seen before:

Cranford )

Sense & Sensibility )

Bleak House

Unfortunately, that's all I could find. I've never seen an actual trailer for North and South — not on any DVDs or anything, though I've seen ads for just about everything else. (Wives & Daughters, Daniel Deronda, The Way We Live Now, He Knew He Was Right and Bleak House. Ah, well...

In no particular order:

Remember that Robin Jones Gunn contest I entered? I WON!!!! Along with nineteen other people, I won an autographed copy of Sisterchicks Go Brit!. I'm so excited because, a) it's about England, so that puts it at the top of the Sisterchick list, and b) IT'S SIGNED BY MY FAVOURITE MODERN AUTHOR!!!!!!!! How amazingly exciting. I still can't believe it.

There's another 1991 version of Robin Hood that I just recently discovered, via UKTV's list of the top 10 Robins. Shortly after, it was on TV so I couldn't help but watch it. The most exciting part? David Morrissey plays Little John! That takes my interest level up by few thousand. Not exactly George Kennedy, eh? But a very good Little John nonetheless. And they had a Much the Miller, and Will Scarlett was Robin's right-hand man. And Uma Thurman was Marian, which bizarre. She had the modern girl spirit, but still, I much prefer Lucy Griffiths. I didn't like that Robin and Marian didn't know each other before the story began — I like the idea that they have they're own complicated history. This version also focused on the tension between the Saxons and the Normands (eek, spelling?) which I didn't know was part of the "Robin Hood" story. So all in all, it's been worth watching, but nothing worth keeping. But I did like this quote:
Maid Marian: [watching Sir Miles Folcanet ride away from them] My future husband is sulking.
Will Scarlett: [watching Robin Hood ride up to them] Oh, I don't know, he looks quite happy to me.

I'm sooooo addicted to The Supersizers Go... TV series. It's about two people who go "back in time" for a week and eat only the food of that period. It's fascinating and usually very disgusting. (A Victorian boiled calf's head, anyone? Or a Restoration pie with every kind of meat you can imagine, including whole chickens heads?) They also experience how the people of that time lived — roles of the wife and husband, things they did for pleasure, how they entertained, etc. It's very funny and educational, and Sue Perkins and Giles Coren make a great team. I started a little backwards and watched the Victorian episode first, followed by the Restoration and the Wartime episodes. I'm most looking forward to the "Regency" episode! I just love seeing history and how people used to live...

David Morrissey and Lucy Griffiths to be in a new ITV film about a stalker. At first I thought David Morrissey was going to be the stalker which wouldn't be hard to picture given his Bradley Headstone role in Our Mutual Friend, but no, he plays the guy being stalked. Lucy plays a new love interest... Should be interesting.

Lots of new dramas from the BBC. There's a new Little Dorrit in the making, whose cast includes Freema Agyeman and Matthew Macfadyen! The BBC always does wonderful Dickens adaptations, so my hopes are high. Yet it sounds like they're trying to cash in on the success of Bleak House:
Adapted by acclaimed writer Andrew Davies (Sense And Sensibility, Bleak House) Little Dorrit will play out in soap opera format with 14 half-hour episodes following an initial hour-long episode.

Also, it looks like Tess of the D'Urbervilles is the next fall drama for the BBC. I've never read the book (by Thomas Hardy) but I know enough of the story. I prefer happy stories, but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy this — I guess I'm just not looking forward to it as much. but oooh, Hans Matheson!

I finally got to the library today and picked up A Room With a View by E.M. that I've been wanting to read for ages. I also found Mansfield Park (1983) and Vanity Fair (1998) on DVD, and the books Enthusiasm by Polly Shulman (which looks good and has good reviews) and The Dashwood Sisters' Secret of Love by Rosie Rushton, which has less-than-favourable reviews but looked too fun to pass up. (It seems like the other five Austen novels are much more neglected, so a Sense and Sensibility remake/tribute is at the very least a fun read... hopefully.) It's exciting having some books that I want to read! I've been in a lull for awhile.

And last but not least, I watched The War Bride the other day with Anna Friel and I really enjoyed it. It's about a London girl in WWII who falls in love with and marries a Canadian soldier. Soon she finds herself sent with her little girl to live with his family in the prairies of Alberta. Nothing extremely unique, but it was still well done — good acting — and a very enjoyable story about history and romance and enjoying life through hardship. Definitely worth watching.

Oops, one more thing — I found this video on YouTube which features the 1976 version of Our Mutual Friend. I though some of you fellow OMF fans would like to see it. I wish I could see the actual series... (And how bizarre to see other actors playing Bella, John, Lizzie and Eugene?!)

I am literally crazy because I've been working on this all night — it's 4:46 AM!!! But I just couldn't stop once I started. I actually thought that it would be longer and I would fit more clips in, but still, I love how it turned out. The words even fit perfectly!

Summary with spoilers... )

[info]three_nails, I blame YOU! These two mess with your head and they're made of SO MUCH WIN. :P

This is for you, Sarah, and your crazy love for everything Millais Culpin! I hope you like it. (And [info]lalumena, my other Casualty 1907 buddy!)

And Happy Mother's Day! Especially to all you moms, but even if you're not a mom yet, I hope you had a lovely day with your family and pampering your own mother. Apparently this was the first mother's day in years where we weren't out visiting family, so I think it was a nice restful day for my mom. We went to church, and then we had a nice take out lunch from a yummy restaurant, and after that was presents and cards. I got my mom a nice pansy china mug from Royal Dalton. (She loves pansies and has a collection of various things, especially teacups and the like.) My grandma (my mom's mom) ended up coming over as well, so that was nice. Later in the afternoon we watched home videos, which was rather fun. I love watching old videos — there's something special about seeing videos from yester-years, something you don't get with still photos. Although the last one we watched was at my grandpa's 70th birthday party in 1992, and everyone was making speeches, and I almost started crying at one point. I miss him so much! I can't imagine how my grandma misses him.

Ohmygoodness, this is hilarious! Someone has made a video featuring Marianne and Brandon (in the '95 version) to the song "True Love's Kiss" from Enchanted. It's perfect for Marianne, and it's funny seeing Alan Rickman singing like a Disney hero. LOL.

Another one that was eye-catching was a video of the 2008 miniseries to the songs "Doomsday" and "Madame Pompadour" from the "Doctor Who" soundtrack. &c. )

Oh, and here's an excellent music video someone made for Marianne and Brandon (S&S 2008). &c. )

I feel like I'm switching from a big Edward/Elinor fan to a bigger Marianne/Brandon fan, haha.

It hasn't even aired and they're already advertising for the DVD... )

I'm getting so excited for this! This is more of a trailer than the other one (about the senses) was. And I think I will very much like Edward and Elinor this time, too. And Brandon and Marianne... :D

My mom and I watched Northanger Abbey when it was on TV last week, which was fun. (I can't wait to get that one on DVD.) And then there's Mansfield Park tomorrow. Oh, Jane Austen = love. I just hate how she's become this popular brand, especially Pride and Prejudice... Does no one read the books anymore? Trust me, the new 2005 movie is not Jane Austen!

On the other hand I really should be posting more sensible things here but I'm afraid I'm not online much... Most of you probably find this more interesting anyway. ;) I hope you're all having a very merry holiday season! I can't believe Christmas is in only a few short days!

Oh, I almost forgot — be sure to check out the new BBC S&S site they've got up! There are clips and interviews and lots of nice things. :)

If you're curious, here's what the region 2 DVD looks like. I think it's very pretty! I wish we got the BBC covers in Region 1 instead of the horrible Masterpiece Theatre covers... (I don't think the Region 1 cover has been released yet, so there's still hope...)

Sense & Sensibility — a feast for the senses...? )

I don't really know what to think, other than I am very excited to see it! We finally get a Jane Austen miniseries. And does anyone else feel like this has been the longest wait ever? It's slightly odd that it's been pushed to the new year...

P.S. I think Edward is the best-looking of the men. :P I'm curious to see David Morrissey as Brandon, too! At any rate this will be very different from the movie, which is good.

There have been lots of posts on my friends-list about everyone's fall TV shedules. I thought I'd add my very small two cents!

Take into consideration that I won't even be here for most of this year's TV season, I don't have many shows on my list. The only one I'm really hoping to watch regularly is Robin Hood! BBC version. I'm crossing my fingers and whatever else I can do, hoping that I'll be able to watch it while I'm away.

The only other shows that would be on my list, whether I was here or not, would be Pushing Daisies, which looks awesome! (Of course, it helps that I'm partial to Anna Friel.) I would also be watching Torchwood as they will air it on CBC, along with trying The Tudors. And then there's PBS's own Jane Austen Season starting in January, if that counts. I mean, there are so many things in the line-up, it will probably still be on by the time I get back in March/April anyway!

But yeah, with Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars being cancelled, there's not much on anymore. Ooh, except that I've been watching One Tree Hill so I'd like to catch the fifth season — I think it starts sometime in the new year. Not sure. (It might not even start airing here 'til I get back which would be perfect.)

I'm not interested in many of the new shows. Even Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice — I don't care enough to try and keep up with. Ah, well, for all this talk about how few shows there I still watch wa-a-ay too much TV.

ROBIN HOOD!!!!! Ahem.

ETA: Ohmygoodness MOONLIGHT! I heard about this (from [info]three_nails no doubt :P) but I forgot. Sophia Myles! And Jason Dohring! In a Twilight-esque storyline with vampires and ooooh, I must see this. YouTube preview/trailer )

Seriously, Anna Friel and Sophia Myles both coming to American TV? It's almost too good to be true!

I'm such a sucker for fairy tales, and remakes of fairy tales. Here's a new one called Sydney White based on, you guessed it, Snow White. It stars Amanda Bynes (who has the most horribles fake tan in the trailer! Yikes) as Sydney White. She's a freshman at university, and there's a prince, and seven dorks — OHMYGOODNESS it's Doyle from Gilmore Girls. That will be funny. Anyway, and playing the evil queen is the big sorority leader. Looks like fun. :)

Ooh, look! Anna Friel is in a new TV show! &c. )

It looks kind of weird, but quirky and cute at the same time. And Anna Friel has an American accent! How odd. (A lot of my favourite British actors are in American films with American accents — James McAvoy (Penelope), Hugh Dancy (Blood & Chocolate, Jane Austen Book Club) and now Anna Friel...

And here are some of the "Live Earth" commericals with celebrities — Anna Friel did one! She's at about 4:54 . &c. )

I kind of want to see this! Anjali Jay! She's so pretty and doesn't have her "Saracen" accent, heehee. (She plays Djaq in Robin Hood). She and Chris Pine look really cute together. ;) (i.e. see the film's IMDb page and all the pictures!)

In other news, I'm feeling physically anxious and stressed about camp. And I'm babysitting nine hours tomorrow and nine hours Thursday. The pay is really nice, but I spent most of today on my contact lenses! *sigh*

Just wanted to share my vvideo that I finished. I've been wanting to make a video for these two for a long time, and now I've finally done it! I really like how it turned out, though I used just about every clip I could. I think the song fits well, too — "Blush (Only You)" by Plumb.

These two are so cute, no? :) Comments are very much apreciated!

And now I need to go to bed. I'm planning on going garage saling tomorrow on my bike. I don't really plan on buying anything in particular, but I thought it would be fun. (I might find some great deals, though. Who knows?)

Hopefully I'll make a real post soon... It's just that videos are to much fun!
